The Perrin Technique

Treatment

Specifically designed to improve drainage of the central lymphatic system.

The Perrin Technique is an osteopathic approach developed by Dr Raymond Perrin. Using manual techniques it improves lymphatic drainage by stimulating the motion of fluid around the brain and spinal cord and incorporates spinal work to drain toxins out of the cerebrospinal fluid.

Using specifically designed gentle osteopathic techniques and adapting existing osteopathic techniques, the treatment protocol involves direct work to soft tissues in the head, neck, back and chest and is designed to direct harmful waste products out of the lymphatic system.

Once out of the lymphatic system these toxins enter the bloodstream and will be further broken down and detoxified by the liver. Over the course of treatment the build-up of toxicity in the body reduces, especially from the brain which starts to work better and gradually controls the lymphatic system more effectively.

Effleurage

A gentle massage technique that encourages relaxation, blood circulation and lymph flow. It involves stroking motions along the surfaces of the breast tissue, head, neck and torso.

Massage

Soft tissue massage relaxes muscles, reducing stresses and strains, to encourage lymph drainage. Work may also be done on other parts of the body causing discomfort.

Cranial

Gentle pressure and minimal movements, cranial and sacral techniques stimulate drainage of cerebrospinal fluid and have a major effect on neuro-lymphatic drainage.

Manipulation

Occasional HVT, HVLA, ‘adjustment’, ‘mobilisation’ or manipulation of the spinal joints improves movement and reduces mechanical irritation to the nervous system which can impact drainage.

Rest assured these techniques are carried out safely and gently and only in appropriate circumstances and suitable patients.

Diaphragm Release

Relaxing and reducing tension within the diaphragm will help improve breathing mechanics, oxygen transference to tissues and aids central lymphatic drainage. This technique is used frequently on Long Covid sufferers and often breathing mechanics have been affected by the virus.

Pelvic

Sometimes work to the pelvis is needed to improve drainage, especially if there are mechanical issues which may be impacting spinal function higher up.
