The amount of physical and hormonal changes leaves the body playing catch up. The hormone ‘relaxin remains in a mother’s postnatal body, especially whilst breast feeding, meaning joints joints, ligaments and muscles are loose and stretchy, making them susceptible to injury.

Taking a little time to focus on yourself as a mother can be really beneficial, especially as your body is put under different stresses and strains due to the increased physical workload new-mums experience whilst still recuperating and adapting to the lack of sleep.
