Do I need a GP referral to see an osteopath?
Did you know that you don't need a GP referral to see an osteopath?
Whilst you are encouraged to keep both their GP and osteopath fully informed, so that their medical records are current and complete, most patients self-refer.
Equally, The British Medical Association’s guidance for GPs states doctors can safely refer patients to osteopaths, although, as above, a GP referral is not required for treatment.
If your osteopath feels you need tests such as a blood test or x ray, they will liaise with your GP to arrange.
As well as the usual payments we also accept private health insurance such as Bupa and Simply Health.
